Talk to any serious motorbike rider and they will tell you that wearing a proper riding boot is as important as all the other motorbike gear such as a helmet, jacket and pants. Finding the right pair of boots for yourself is important not only for comfort but also safety in the event of an accident. When choosing the right motorcycle boot you need to consider safety, function and comfort and you need to consider that motorbike boots need to be suitable for riding as well as comfortable to walk around in. Some of the features of motorbike boots that you should consider before you make a purchase are the material used, flexibility of the boot, the tread or sole of the boot, the style of the boot and what price range you are considering.

Motorcycle boots are available in many different types of materials, from leather to synthetic types of materials. When choosing a motorbike boot you need to consider that the material should be able to handle the weather conditions you intend to ride in. Leather boots may look great but are not the best for use constantly in the rain. Synthetic materials such as Gore-Tex may be a more appropriate choice as this material is excellent in almost all weather conditions.

The flexibility of the boot is an important feature as riding boots need to strong enough to provide protection to the foot but should be flexible enough to be able to easily work the brake and gear shift. Most boots have a reinforced toe area and strong ankle support which is flexible enough for the rider to walk around when not on the bike.

A boot with a thick rubberised sole is also a good idea as this is important for preventing slips when stopping at traffic lights or when walking in wet weather to and from your bike. Choose something with a nice deep tread pattern as this will provide some cushioning for the foot and the tread will last longer.

The style of the motorcycle boot needs also to be considered. Motorbike boots come in many different styles including leather, textile materials and a combination of both. Many bike riders will recommend that you go for a style that either zips up or laces up rather than slip on boots as these will stay on your feet in an accident.

Price range is also a factor that need to be considered when choosing which motorcycle boot is best for you. Like most things you will get what you pay for with cheaper models having less features and less safety aspects. It is wise to spend a little bit more on a boot that has some extra features which will make the boots last longer and provide the needed foot protection.

The Alpinestars company was founded in 1963 by Sante Mazzarolo in Italy. The company originally started out making hiking and ski boots but quickly moved focus to the more lucrative motorcycle boots and motor cross boots. The company made a name for itself as one of the top brand of riding boots and by the 1990s had successfully branched out to manufacture all types of protective gear for motorcycle riders including gloves, jackets, pants and full leather racing suits.

The Alpinestars brand has worked hard to provide the consumer with a top quality product that can provide the necessary protection while on the track or on the way to work, as well as provide to rider with some style and colour options apart from just black leathers.

The range of motorcycle pants that Alpinestars has come in three categories, Leather, textile and gore-tex/Drystar. By offering the consumer the choice of three categories of motorcycle pants Alpinestars is a popular choice from novice riders to the more experienced track riders who need maximum protection and performance from their safety gear.

Alpinestars leather motorcycle pants range are designed for both performance track riding as well as for the motorbike commuter who prefers to have top level protection when riding socially. The leather pants are designed to fit ergonomically with panels that stretch to give the rider a better fit and make the pants more comfortable on longer rides. In the leather motorbike pants range, Alpinestars has a selection of street wear pants such as the V-Twin and Bat Pants which are styled for everyday use and come in black and grey colours. Alpinestars also have performance riding pants such as the Apex pants and track leather pants which have extra knee and hip protection and also zip together with the Alpinestars jackets to make a racing suit which provides extra safety to the wearer.

Textile and Gore-Tex motorcycle pants are also available from Alpinestars. This range is suitable for the rider who goes out on the bike in any weather. The range of textile and Gore-tex pants offers the rider pants such as the Stella Verve denim pants which look and feel like normal jeans but have been reinforced with Kevlar for maximum protection. For the hotter summer months Alpinestars has a range of Airflow riding pants which are designed to keep the rider cool but still provide a high level of protection.

Alpinestars also has a range of waterproof pants which are constructed of Gore-Tex and are designed to keep the rider dry and cool in the wet. These pants provide much of the protection offered by leather pants but can be worn in all weather conditions.

When selecting the type of motorcycle pants that fit both your budget and your situation you need to consider some of the following things. What material should you buy?, will I need to get pants that are waterproof, should protection and safety be more of a priority? and when do I ride – socially or do I commute to work every day.

Buying suitable pants to wear while riding your motorbike is as important as the purchase of your other safety gear such as a jacket and helmet. Many innovations with materials have given riders a vast number of options to choose from when it comes to selecting the right pants and one of those options in Cordura pants.

Cordura motorcycle pants are a great all round option for riders who demand top protection but also want comfort for longer rides. Cordura pants are great for preventing injuries such as severe grazes that you get when sliding along the road surface after coming off your bike in an accident and the breathe ability of the cordura material also keeps the rider cool during the hotter summer months.

The Cordura motorcycle pants are constructed with a tough outer shell material made of D-600 Cordura which is comfortable on long rides but also provides the maximum protection demanded by riders who travel long distances. Other features of Cordura pants is they have a double liner inside which is made of mesh which provides water proofing and allows the material to breathe. An added bonus on Cordura pants is they also have injection moulded armour for knee protection which is removable and the pants have a double layer for extra protection for the hips in the event of an accident.

As well as the great protection features Cordura pants also have several other features that make these pants a great choice for most motorcycle riders. The pants have useful pockets for carrying personal items, two cargo pockets on the legs as well as pockets around the waist for your hands. Cordura pants are fully adjustable with straps and elastic panelling which makes these pants more comfortable than other of the rack riding gear. The Cordura pants are available in both mens and womens sizing’s and come in a range of colours and styles. Cordura motorcycle pants are available from many motorcycle clothing stores online or from your nearest motorcycle gear shop.

Motorcycle leather suits in one or two piece are a significant investment for most motorcycle riders so it is important for riders to know what to look for in a suit and how to choose the right one for their situation. Some of the features that riders should consider before purchasing a motorbike leather suit are cost, the type of leather, thickness of leather, ventilation, protection or armour, quality of the stitching and workmanship, quality of the stretch material used and pockets and accessories available.

When considering the purchase of a motorcycle leather suit it is important to know that like most things you get what you pay for. The cheaper range of leather suits that are on the market often use a thinner, lesser quality leather, the stitching may be of lesser quality and the quality of the armour or padding of the suit will also be of a lesser quality. The more expensive leather suits will be constructed with a thicker leather, the workmanship will be of a higher quality and the more expensive suits will last longer than the cheaper ones during regular use.

The type of leather that makes up a leather suit is important, but it should be noted that whether it is cowhide or kangaroo, leather riding gear will always outperform synthetic materials in an accident. The thickness of the leather is also to be considered as this will affect the protection ability of the suit.

Another feature that needs to be considered when deciding on a leather riding suit is ventilation and features built into the suit that will increase the comfort of the rider. Riding during the summer months in a full leather suit can be hot work so if you are going to be riding a lot in the heat you need to look at features such as vents in the suit that will keep you cool.

The protection and armour included in a leather motorcycle suit is also an important feature to consider. The padding and reinforced parts of the suit need to fit snugly around the body so that they will work properly in an accident and won’t move around. The armour needs also to be in the right place on the body for it to work properly. If the armour isn’t positioned properly in a suit after you have done all the adjustments , try another size or try another brand with a different style.

The quality of the workmanship and the stitching of the leather suit should also be considered. As with most of the features the more expensive the suit the better the quality. Cheaper suits can fail in the event of an accident if the stitching is of a poor quality.

The last thing to consider is the accessories available with the suits. Accessories such as replacement armour and linings are good to have as this will prolong the life of the leather suit.

When shopping around for the right type of motorcycle pants it is important to consider what type of riding you are going to. There are many different types of mens motorcycle pants on the market suited to uses during the wet or for riding in the middle of summer as well as suits that are designed for maximum protection while track riding. To ensure that you choose the right set of motorbike pants for your situation you should consider things such as cost, what weather you are likely to be riding in, the style and comfort of the pants and also the safety or protection they provide.

One of the main things that dictates what gear people wear when they are riding is cost. Riding can be quite expensive but having a good quality pair of motorcycle pants can be your best friend in an accident. When it comes to motorcycle gear you will get what you pay for. The more expensive riding pants are generally finished off better and generally have a few more features.

The next thing to consider is when do you do most of your riding. If you are a commuter and use your bike to get to and from work then you may consider motorbike pants that are waterproof or over pants where as a rider who goes out for a weekend ride may prefer leathers or pants in the for a race suit.

The styling and the comfort is also something that needs to be considered when purchasing mens motorcycle pants. Different types of bikes tend to dictate what type of pants a rider choose to wear. The comfort of the motorcycle pants is also important as you may spend a fair amount of time wearing them so it is important to get a good, comfortable fit.

The last of the important things that you should consider when purchasing mens motorcycle pants is the safety or protection that they provide. Motorcycle pants can take the full impact of an accident especially around the knee and hip area. When considering which pants would suit you check what type of protection they provide around the knee and hip area and if there are any extra features that could add to the overall protection of the motorcycle pants in the event of an accident.

Most people would agree that the purchase of motorcycle riding gear especially pants can be a pricey exercise so whether you have mesh, textile, waterproof or leather riding pants it is important that you look after your pants. You know the saying, look after your gear and it will look after you. Out of all the materials that are made into motorcycle riding pants, leather is by far the one material that need the most looking after. Many of the synthetic materials require a clean now and then depending on how dirty of wet is was on your ride but leathers require a bit more care and looking after but will reward you with many years of service.

Motorcycle riding pants that are made of materials such as Kevlar can be easily looked after by following a few easy steps. These include making sure that your riding gear is dry before it is packed away, cleaning off any mud or dirt as soon as possible after your ride, making sure that you don’t dry your pants in direct sunlight and only cleaning with warm water and diluted cleaners as recommended on the label.

Motorcycle pants that are made of leather and leather materials need to cleaned and maintained to ensure that the leather keeps its features such as its breathability, soft feel and prevent the leather from drying out. Some simple tips for keeping your leather motorcycle riding pants in top shape include hanging your leathers on a padded coat hanger to prevent creasing, never storing your leathers in plastic or non breathable covers, ensuring that wet leather riding pants are naturally dried away from a heat source and consulting the care instructions included on the tags in the back of the pants.

As well as cleaning leather motorcycle pants when they are wet and dirty, it is also important to condition the leather to prolong its life. If leather motorcycle pants are looked after they can last for many years and can look better with age. The frequency of conditioning of leather riding gear is dependent on the frequency of use. Riders who ride a few hundred kilometres a year in good weather may only need to condition there motorcycle riding pants once or twice a year whereas a rider who is out constantly in harsh weather conditions may need to condition their leather pants more frequently.

When choosing what type of motorcycle clothing to buy it basically comes down to your personal preference and what looks great when you’re wearing it. One thing that you should make sure is that whatever type of motorcycle clothing you wear it needs to be strong enough and have enough protection to keep you safe if you are involved in an accident.

Every day you still see motorbike and motor scooter riders wearing ordinary denim jeans or other casual clothes such as business wear, regular pants and tops. In the event that that person is involved in an accident they could sustain major injuries even in a low speed accident. Even the highest quality regular denim jeans will be gone after a quarter of a second once you hit the ground which means that while you are sliding across the road after this time your skin will be taking the friction burn from the road surface.

To provide another type of protection for motorcyclist and scooter riders manufacturers have developed a denim fabric which incorporates Kevlar to make the material much stronger than denim alone. The denim jeans look similar to regular jeans but the inclusion of Kevlar makes them strong enough to protect your skin in the event that you come off your bike and slide across the road surface. Many tests have been conducted on the Kevlar fabric and it has been demonstrated that the Kevlar pants were able to with stand the friction of sliding along the road surface for just over a minute. The limit of protection that a rider gets from Kevlar pants is quite high and if you start to test the limits of protection of the pants you would probably have more problems to worry about then saving your skin.

One of the main reasons that Kevlar pants especially the denim range of Kevlar pants are so popular if that they are comfortable as well as providing above average protection to the rider. The popularity of Kevlar pants has also extended to bike and scooter riders who find it too hot in the summer months for leather pants. The option of wearing Kevlar pants still provides all the necessary protection that leather provides but the material allows some air flow to keep the rider cool while riding.

The other attraction of Kevlar pants that look like regular denim jeans is that if you are going out somewhere or meeting friends you don’t need to worry about changing out of your bike gear and the Kevlar pants are comfortable to wear all night.

Leather motorcycle pants are the safest type of pants for motorbike riders. They can provide the best protection a rider can wish for in the event of an accident especially if the pants have padding or armour on the knees and protection for your hips. If you are considering buying a pair of leather motorcycle pants it is important to consider the following to ensure that you select the right type of pants for the job.

The comfort of the leather riding pants is an essential thing to consider. You need to consider that you will be sitting in the pants for extended time so they need to be comfortable. Remember when you are trying the pants on that they are designed for sitting on a bike not standing up so if you have the opportunity when trying the pants on make sure that they are comfortable when you are sitting in the riding position on your bike.

The next thing to consider is whether you have pants that are all leather or part leather and textile. There are advantages and disadvantages to both so most of the time this will come down to comfort and style of the pants. Full leather pants provide top protection in an accident but some riders find that they are a bit warm to wear in the summer months. A composite pair of leather pants that contains some textile in the design has the advantage of being cooler to wear in the summer and also retains the top protection of full leather pants.

Another important thing to consider is that leather is not really designed for protection against the rain while riding. Being caught in the odd rain shower is ok as long as the leathers are dried out naturally in the shade once you have reached your destination. Most riders cover their leather pants with rain pants to protect them from rain while riding. When deciding whether to buy leather motorcycle pants you should consider the weather that you will be predominately riding in.

Motorcycle pants have different types of cuffs and zippers and adjustments to make the pants fit the rider properly and comfortably and also stop the pants from flapping around while riding. There is a lot of choice when it comes to cuffs and zippers but most people prefer strong zippers which close the cuffs of the pants around the outside or inside of a riding boot.

Padding for the knees and hips around the waist is also an important feature for leather riding pants. When fitting the leather pants it is important to have some room in the knee area as this is a heavily padded area as it is quite vulnerable in an accident. Padding around the hips is also important but it must be comfortable as you may be wearing the pants for extended periods of time.

Many motorbike riders wear leathers when they ride as the tough nature of leather makes this material suitable for maximum protection of the rider in an accident. Motorcycle leathers generally refers to the combination of a leather jacket and pants or a leather jacket and motorcycle chaps. The purchase of motorcycle leathers is a relatively pricey exercise so it is important to consider the following when choosing which type of leathers would suit your situation.

The tough leather used to make motorcycle riding gear is long lasting and therefore many riders will get many years of riding out of one set of gear. When choosing a jacket, pants or any combination consider sticking to traditional styles of leathers so that changes in fashion an styling wont make you look out of place.

Motorcycle leathers have an advantage over some of their textile competitors as leather is a natural product and breaths which is great for keeping cool while riding in the summer months. You need to maintain the leathers properly to ensure the leather keeps this feature.

When choosing motorbike leathers you need to consider what colours you are available and how this effects the leather of the jackets of the pants. Some cheaper brands of leathers are spray coloured which means that the colour is only on the surface of the leather. If the leather is scratched in any way and the colour is removed you will have another colour show through. This can make your leathers look shabby and they may not last as long as higher quality leathers that have gone through a dye process that permeates the leather with the colour.

Another thing to consider when it comes to motorbike leathers is that they are not great in the rain. Motorcycle leathers should not be worn constantly in rainy conditions as this affects the leather. Water soaks into the leather and this has the effect of washing out most of the natural oils contained in the leather and leaving it dry which can cause cracking and damage to the finish of the leather. Many people who ride in all weather will put on rain gear over their leathers to protect them from the rain.

The last thing to consider when deciding on motorcycle leathers is that they require more looking after than textile and mesh type riding gear. Looking after your leathers by keeping them clean and treating the leather periodically can make leathers last a long time which is good as quality leathers can be expensive to replace.
